PDF Scanner ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparency about how we collect and use data.

Information We Collect

The app may access:

• Camera permission — to scan documents
• Storage permission — to save generated PDFs locally
• Advertising ID (GAID) — for advertising and analytics purposes
• Device identifiers — for app functionality and analytics

We do not collect: Personal information, passwords, payment information, or the content of your scanned documents.

How Your Data Is Used

Document Storage

All scanned documents and generated PDFs are stored locally on your device only. We do not upload, sync, or access your files to external servers.

Advertising ID & GAID Collection

We collect your device's Advertising ID (GAID on Android) to:

• Serve personalized and relevant advertisements
• Measure advertising performance and effectiveness
• Prevent ad fraud and improve ad quality
• Track attribution and install sources

Analytics & Attribution

We use third-party analytics platforms to understand user behavior and improve the app:

• Firebase Analytics — tracks key in-app events (scans, saves, shares)
• Apptrove — measures app installs, attribution, and user engagement metrics

These services use your Advertising ID and device identifiers to associate events across app sessions and campaigns.

Advertising & Ad Personalization

This app displays ads served through Google Ad Manager. Google may use your device's Advertising ID and other non-personal data to:

• Serve personalized advertisements based on your interests
• Measure ad performance and user engagement
• Prevent fraud and improve ad quality

Types of Ads Displayed

• Banner ads
• Interstitial ads (full-screen)
• Native ads
• Rewarded ads
• App open ads

Opt Out of Ad Personalization

You can opt out of personalized ads and reset your Advertising ID:

• Android: Settings → Google → Manage your Google Account → Data & Privacy → Ad Settings → Opt out of Ads Personalization
• Reset Advertising ID: Settings → Google → Manage your Google Account → Data & Privacy → Ad Settings → Reset Advertising ID

Opting out does not stop ads from appearing—only reduces personalization. You can also delete your Advertising ID entirely from your device settings.

Third-Party Services

The app uses the following third-party services that may collect data:

• Google Ad Manager / AdMob — for serving and measuring advertisements (Privacy Policy)
• Firebase Analytics — for tracking app usage, user engagement, and crash reporting (Privacy Policy)
• Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) — for push notifications (if enabled) (Privacy Policy)
• Apptrove — for install tracking and attribution (Privacy Policy)
• Expo — development platform for app delivery (Privacy Policy)
• Google Play Services — core Android functionality (Privacy Policy)

Push Notifications & FCM Tokens

If you enable push notifications, the app generates an FCM (Firebase Cloud Messaging) token on your device. This token is:

• Used to send you push notifications
• Associated with your device and Advertising ID
• Stored by Firebase for message delivery
• Automatically deleted if you uninstall the app or disable notifications

You can disable push notifications in Settings without affecting other app functionality.

Data Sharing & Disclosure

We do not:

• Sell, trade, or rent your personal data
• Share your scanned documents or PDFs with third parties
• Access or backup your locally stored files

We do share:

• Your Advertising ID with Google, Firebase, and Apptrove for advertising and analytics
• Anonymized usage events (scans, saves, shares) with analytics partners
• Device identifiers with advertising networks for ad targeting and measurement

Data Retention & Deletion

Data Stored on Your Device

• All scanned documents and PDFs are deleted when you uninstall the app or manually delete them
• App cache and temporary files are cleared when you uninstall

Data Stored by Third Parties

• Firebase Analytics: Automatically deletes inactive user data after 25 months. You can delete your Firebase data through your Google Account settings.
• Apptrove: Retains install and event data for attribution purposes. Data can be deleted upon request.
• Google Ad Manager: Stores Advertising ID and ad-related data according to Google's privacy policy. You can delete your Advertising ID or opt out of tracking at any time.
• FCM Token: Automatically deleted 30 days after the app is uninstalled or when you disable notifications.

Requesting Data Deletion

Please specify:

• Your device type (Android/iOS)
• The date you installed the app
• What data you'd like deleted

Security

We implement security measures to protect data in transit. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. By using this app, you assume the risk of data transmission.

Best practice: Keep your device updated with the latest security patches.

Children's Privacy

This app is not directed toward children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected data from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access personal data we hold about you
• Request deletion of your data
• Opt out of data collection and personalized advertising
• Request information about how your data is used
